You keep him [her] in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he [she] trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything in prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
God promises us peace. Peace that surpasses all understanding. Peace that leads to true contentment and joy. Peace that gives you rest and assurance. Peace that facilitates your faith.
In today's world it is easy to be anxious, worried, fearful. There is so much happening and at an alarming rate.
But when we put our trust in God and lean on Him, there is no need to keep carrying the heavy burdens of who, what, where, when, why, and how. We no longer need answers to our burning questions. And in His presence, all our fears and worries are not just lulled to sleep but they completely vanish.
These are the secrets to maximizing peace and quieting anxiety, worry, and fear:
1. Spend more time with God. The more time you spend with God, the less time you have to worry or be anxious. And it is in His presence that you will find real rest for your spirit.
2. Pray fervently. The more you pray, the more you discipline your mind to align with Godly thoughts. Prayer also allows you to let go of any heavy burdens you may be carrying in exchange for God's peace.
3. Give God thanks. As the elders would say, "Thank God in advance." Thanking God even before you receive an answer from Him will bring you comfort because you already know and trust He will do it.
4. Guard your heart and your mind. Our hearts and minds are portals to our souls, therefore, we must be mindful of what we are consuming. Perhaps you are feeling anxious, worried, or fearful because of what you are consuming. Take inventory (regularly).
5. Stop trying to be in control. Trying to control every aspect of your life will only drive you insane and strip you of peace. Instead, surrender your life to God and allow Him to write (or re-write) your story.
I pray this post blesses you and you find the peace your spirit needs in this season.
